Reviews
Tried this neighborhood place one afternoon when my mother in law was in town. Seating was ample although some tables were dirty. Took a minute for our order to get taken. Everyone was pleasant. Decent menu variety. I got the tofu rice bowl which I enjoyed very much. I’ll give this place another try in the very near future
Conveniently located off the Interstate which gave us a break from being in traffic. Sunshine Kitchen is located on the opposite end of Wal Mart Neighborhood Market next door to a taco shop and Pho place. Huge outdoor patio with heaters.
It’s a Japanese restaurant serving curries, rice bowls, plates, rolls, poke, fried rice, ramen, yakisoba/udon, hot soba/udon, salads and sides.
We ordered:
-spicy garlic edamame: Great garlicky sauce
-Takoyaki: The least fav of all, it was a giant ball that had too much wheat flour that we just plucked out the tiny bit of octopus
-chicken karaage curry over steamed rice: We asked for a higher spice level and it had all the right spice and curriness.
-Oceanside roll: OMG this roll is so good. Fresh thin slices of avocado and soft shell crab. Inside had more crab and shrimp tempura.
-Dinner plate #2 (chicken teriyaki over fried rice, 2 gyoza, mix tempura, Japanese potato salad, and green salad): Had a mix of everything.
My fav was the Oceanside roll with the soft shell crab and avocado topping. The dinner plate was huge but I’m not a fan of the teriyaki sauce. It was thicker than normal and overly sweet.
I was surprised a small place that has their hands dipped in everything may not be as good but I was wrong.
The service was wonderful. You order and pay first before you sit. Sunshine Kitchen is on our list to return if we need to dodge traffic again.
4.5 stars, bumping to a 5
This place is pretty decent. Came here for lunch with some friends during work. Walk right up to the counter and ordered our food. It’s a Japanese restaurant with a lot of Japanese items to choose from. We ordered the chicken karaage, house fried rice, Philadelphia hand roll and the sunshine ramen.
The chicken karaage was pretty good but it isn’t not karrage. Yes it was lightly batter and fried but not at all karaage. The batter had too much pepper but the chicken was good quality thigh meat. The Philadelphia hand roll was also good, great quality salmon. The house fried rice was decent nothing special. And the sun shin ramen lacked umami. No tonkotsu flavor, kind of over powered by pepper.
The service was good and the restaurant had a welcoming vibe to it. I’d like to try other items on the menu but the food was really just a bit better than good. Nothing special.
Best Japanese north of Convoy!! And probably better than most down there! Great pricing! So fresh! Great service! Inside is very clean…. No sushi bar though! The ramen and fried rice are the best! Gonzo quality! I got to go and was still so good
Visited for the first time for a late dinner. They have an expansive menu with many different Asian style dishes. Ordered a Dynamite roll and the house yakisoba. Both were served quickly and delicious. Definitely recommend this restaurant.
Stopped by for a quick sushi fix. So glad we did. Servings were good portions, and the wait was very short. 10/10 would go again.
This place is our regular for a wonderful rolls or the best Poke bowl in town! We love this place. The service is always great and fast, their food taste amazing and the ingredients always fresh! Highly recommended if you crave for delicious Japanese food!
We had chicken teriyaki and udon and it was perfect. Really fast service and nice staff too!
